Administrative Review

Administrative Review

What is Administrative Review?

An administrative review is a formal request to the Home Office to reconsider an immigration decision that may have resulted from a mistake. It allows visa applicants or those seeking entry clearance to challenge refusals based on case working errors at the Home Office.

Eligibility for Administrative Review

You can apply for an administrative review if:

  • You are in the UK.
  • You applied from within the UK.
  • Your application was refused.
  • Your application was granted but you are dissatisfied with the conditions or length of leave granted.

Your decision letter will indicate if you are eligible for an administrative review. The process allows you to challenge specific case-working errors as defined by the Immigration Rules.

Eligible Applications for Administrative Review

Standard applications that qualify for administrative review include:

  • Dependant visas
  • Visa application errors
  • EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) refusals
  • Global Talent visas

  • Overseas Business visa extensions
  • Student, child student, and parent of a child student visas
  • Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 5, Skilled Worker, Health & Care Worker, Sportsperson, and Minister of Religion visas
  • UK Ancestry visas

This list is not exhaustive. There are additional categories that may be eligible, and some that are not.

You can request an administrative review from outside the UK if you meet the immigration rules and criteria.
