Frequently Asked Question

Yes, you can appeal a visa rejection decision by following the appeals process outlined by the immigration authorities.

The UK’s Graduate Route offers a great opportunity for international students to stay in the UK and work, or search for a job, after they graduate. If you’ve successfully completed an undergraduate or master’s degree, you can apply to stay for up to two years, while PhD graduates can stay for up to three years.
This is an amazing chance for international students who want to take the next step in their careers right here in the UK!

The Graduate Route is unsponsored, which means you have the freedom to work or look for a job at any skill level after you graduate. It’s super flexible—you can gain work experience, do an internship, or even freelance while you’re in the UK.

There’s no minimum salary requirement, and there’s no limit to the number of international students who can take advantage of this opportunity. Plus, you’re not tied to any specific job or employer, so you can have multiple jobs at different skill levels and switch between them during your visa.

If you find the right job, you can even switch to a skilled worker visa and stay in the UK beyond the two or three years of the Graduate Route.

The Skilled Worker visa lets you stay in the UK with an approved employer for an eligible job. To apply, there are a few requirements you need to meet, like having a job offer with a minimum salary of £20,960, at least £10.75 per hour, or the 'going rate' for your type of work—whichever is higher.

Your job also needs to meet certain skill level requirements. The UK government has a list of eligible jobs* that qualify, which you can check on their website.

Yes, student visa holders may work part-time during their studies and full-time during breaks, subject to certain conditions.

The level of English you'll need depends on the university and course you’re applying for. In most cases, you'll need at least an ‘upper intermediate’ level (around an IELTS score of 6.0), but some courses and universities may ask for a higher score.
For undergraduate applications, you don't need to submit proof of your English level with your UCAS application. Universities usually ask for your certificate after they give you a conditional offer, and you'll have a deadline to provide it.
If you don’t quite meet the English requirements before your course starts, some universities offer pre-sessional English courses to help you out. Just keep in mind that these courses usually come with an additional cost.

Visa applications can take a few weeks to process, so it’s a good idea to apply as soon as you’ve been offered a place to study in the UK. You can start the visa application process up to six months before your course begins, but you'll need to make sure you have all the necessary documents ready. One important document is your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
It’s best to get as much done as early as you can. If you need to take an English test, try to do it well in advance so you’re not left waiting for results later on. This will help keep things stress-free!

The cost of courses in the UK can vary depending on the level of study and where you're studying. For international students, undergraduate tuition fees typically range from £11,400 to £38,000, while postgraduate fees usually fall between £9,000 and £30,000.

A great thing about many UK postgraduate courses is that they can be completed in just one year of full-time study. This not only saves you money but also helps you get back into work more quickly compared to a traditional two-year master's programme. It's a win-win for both your finances and career!

The end date of your student visa will match the length of your course, so it's important to keep track of when it expires. That way, you can plan your next steps without any stress!

If you're eligible, you might be able to extend your student visa to keep studying in the UK. Or, if you're thinking about staying to work, you could look into switching to a different type of visa.
